What is Traditional Knowledge

Traditional Knowledge in usually the knowledge which is preserved with the Humans in civilization which are sustainable and get passed on from generation to generation. It could be Health Care, Agriculture, Food Habits,, Art, Handicrafts, etc. These are very popular with tribals living in isolation in the forest areas and usually they do not reveal and share the knowledge with people outside their habitats . The myth is that the Tribal God/Goddess will get annoyed. However, the first ever example of Traditional Knowledge which was shared with the scientists in the world was kani tribes of Western Ghat, Karela with TBGRI ,Tropical Garden Research Institute,Pallode, Kerala, which resulted in to a wonderful, Drug, Jeveni, antifatigue drug by the Scientists of TBGRI under Directorship of Dr. Puspangadan, TBGRI using Trichophus zeylinicum,Arogaya pachi Which is antifatigue herb also mentioned in ancient Ayurvedic scripts and the correct identification was not known . There is a lot of literature available on Traditional Knowledge like TKDL (CSIR), IJTK Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge (NISCAIR), lot of scientific literature on Ethnobotany, but the knowledge is confined to scientific journals and also now fully exploited and put to application..

AKS (Amicable Knowledge Solution) University which was established in 2011 is spread over 70 acre of land with beautiful landscape of uncommon ornamental plants and has different disciplines like Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Engineering, Mining, Management and Social Sciences and has been awarded twice in 2016 as the Best Rural University by Assochem and HRD Ministry, GOI.

AKS University, Satna, Madhya Pradesh has been established by Government of Madhya Pradesh by an Act No.44 of 2011 of Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha. AKS University Satna is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), a statutory body of the Government of India under 2(f) of UGC Act.

Not much has been done on the Scientific validation and application aspects of Traditional Knowledge and three is a big task and challenge to serve the humanity and with these aspects in mind, Centre for Traditional Knowledge Research and Applications has been established. The centre will concentrate on Hearth Care and Agriculture to start with but will include at a later stage other aspects like Animal Health Care and cow in particular, Traditional Foods, Traditional, Art craft etc.
